For schools and districts

More decodable practice. Less prep for teachers.

Cody Reading helps every teacher create decodable stories, word lists, worksheets, and lesson plans for the skills they are teaching now. It works with your existing phonics curriculum, gives teachers control of every student-facing material, and costs $1,000 per building per year—no per-student fees.

How much does Cody Reading cost?

$1,000 per building per year, billed annually. It is one straightforward price for the building, not a per-student fee.

Your team gets unlimited decodable stories, plus worksheets, word lists, and lesson plans. The plan also includes shared student rosters, team invitations, centralized billing, and onboarding support.

Planning a rollout across several buildings? We offer custom Enterprise pricing for districts and multi-site organizations.

Will Cody work with our phonics curriculum?

Yes. Keep the curriculum and scope and sequence your teachers already know. Cody adds decodable practice matched to the exact phonics skills each student is learning.

Cody is a supplement, not a replacement curriculum. It creates material from a phonics scope and sequence instead of a broad reading level, so practice follows the instruction already happening in the classroom.

How does Cody protect student data?

Our Privacy Notice states: when student information is entered by an authorized user on behalf of an educational agency under a data privacy agreement, Cody Reading processes it as a school official with a legitimate educational interest under FERPA, under the direct control and supervision of that agency.

The full notice is the binding source. It also explains our COPPA obligations and how a parent can ask to review or delete a child's data.

How much training will teachers need?

Teachers can create their first useful material without completing a course. Pick a student or lesson, choose a story, word list, or worksheet, and Cody builds it from the skills being taught.

Once students are added and placed in your scope and sequence, teachers can return to those profiles whenever they need fresh practice.

Our help center gives teachers short, task-by-task answers when they need them.

Will students want to read the stories?

Teachers choose topics their students care about; Cody keeps the text grounded in phonics patterns those students have learned. That makes practice more personal without making it less decodable.

A student practicing the same skill can read about soccer, space, or a mischievous pet. The topic can change while the target phonics practice stays in place.

Where does AI fit—and where doesn't it?

Cody uses AI to draft material, not to test students or decide what they should learn next. Teachers choose each student's place in the scope and sequence and remain in control of what students see.

Every generated story is scored against the student's target pattern set, giving the teacher a clear way to check the fit before using it.

Our Privacy Notice says AI service providers may not use data submitted through Cody Reading to train their models. We enforce that contractually and remove student names and direct identifiers before sending data to those providers. Section 5 of the notice is the binding source.
